Located in the Metropolitan Hotel the Don Corleone Friday brunch also known as the ‘Godfather Brunch’ serves up the Italian staples of pastas, pizzas, and risottos along with a selection of other regional nibbles.
It is by no means a big brunch, definitely not the lavished affair that a Dubai brunch can be.
That being said though it was a nice change. Small and quiet with only a few other couples and families sitting around us the atmosphere has a good mix and definitely aires on the side of ‘cozy Italian’.
Naturally I jumped right past the salad bar and went straight for the pasta station.
Pick your pasta, your sauce, your toppings and bellissimo!
Beautiful hot pasta ready to be enjoyed.
Now eventually I did stop by the salad bar, which was also tossed for you on the spot.
I do have to mention it because even though surrounded by amazing Italian carbs a salad seems rather dull I have to say it was super tasty.
With baby mozzarella, cucumber, sun-dried tomato and artichoke heart topped with balsamic it was very nice indeed.
Pizza, pizza, pizza.
Baked in their stone oven this thin crust pizza was pretty good.
I stuck to the classic margarita but they also offered a seafood and veggie option.
I will say though that we saved the best for last.
The risotto was by far the best of the mains and while the rest was good I greatly preferred it to the pasta and pizza.
Perfectly cheesey (made fresh and mixed inside a giant cheese wheel) this simple mushroom risotto was excellent.
We left full and satisfied.
A great brunch if you are looking for something on the quiet afternoon, family side – or are just after a great plate of risotto.
Not to mention, the pricing is excellent.
