Tuesday night in Dubai and Mr. Z and I found ourselves at Le Classique for the first time.
The French restaurant is located in the clubhouse of the Emirates Golf club and on Tuesday nights offers a buffet style starter and dessert bar with the opportunity to sample a number of dishes from their main menu.
To cut straight to it I had no idea what to expect but I can say I left full, satisfied and happy that Le Classique was now on my radar.
A great part of the venue was being able to sit outside and enjoy the lovely weather while watching the last of the golfers turn in for the evening.

First up was the buffet of starters.
Salads, tartares, beef, fish, all perfectly presented and ready for taking.
With all of this was also a full wine selection and live cooking station offering snails, foie gras and roast beef.
Needless to say we wasted no time piling our plates with the selection.
After finishing off our buffet starters we decided to order the samples of soup.
A French onion for Mr. Z and a pumpkin soup for me.
Z also decided to try the sample of frog leg which was beautifully presented and he enjoyed thoroughly.
After all this is a traditional French restaurant – the snails and frog legs are a must.
Besides being able to order the tasters from the menu a full roast beef was available inside at the carving station. Perfectly rare and tender it is not be missed.
The same goes for the curried shrimps if you enjoy seafood.
Before I knew it my little dish of octopus, black cod and beetroot salad had arrived.
The octopus was perfectly cooked and I was pleasantly surprised by the extremely high quality virgin olive oil used to dress it (the chef later confirmed to me that the oil is specially ordered from Italy).
The mini black cod was fresh, beautifully presented and simple and the beetroot salad in my opinion is not to be missed – tasty, crunchy and slightly tangy.
Though the main portions look small they are very filling.
The head Chef, Remi Verrier came to see how we were getting on. Chef Remi created this Tuesday menu (the whole Le Classique menu in fact) himself. He explained how he tries to use seasonal foods which he imports his ingredients directly from Europe and everything is cooked in full French style – which has been noticed; every table that evening with the exception of ours was occupied by French speakers.
Thus you know this is the real deal.
Such an evening couldn’t end without a few slices of cheese and some beautiful desserts (including made to order crepes).
The crepe à la mode was the perfect conclusion to a lovely evening of authentic french gastronomy ….
A really wonderful dining experience in the ever so leisurely environment of the Emirates Golf Club. With the Marina skyline as your backdrop this little outdoor patio is the perfect place for an evening dinner.
