I’m going to start this post of by saying that I couldn’t be happier with Dubai’s latest Mexican/Latin American restaurant because while this cuisine seems to be trending as of late in Dubai – but ZOCO has raised the bar.
ZOCO has raised the bar in many ways … it’s convenient location in the the new Al Habtoor City Atrium (same entrance as the W hotel), the staff are lovely and knowledgable, the atmosphere is sophisticated but fun with a Latin flare, the interior decor is on point and most importantly the food is good (like really really good).
What I’m Wearing:
Taking a corner seat we started off with some guacamole (how could you not in such a restaurant?).
So getting back to Zoco’s food being ‘really really good’ they have multiple options when it comes to their guac. We decided to go for the house original and the pineapple and mango (they call it exotico) and you’ve got to try it.
Paired off with this crazy cocktail which includes caramel popcorn.
The house salad with walnuts and pomegranate is a delicous mix as well.
Along with the chili it was the perfect starting pair.
All washed down with some fun bagged cocktails (these are called Frescas).
Next was pure bliss in the form of chicken and beef tacos.
We are talking home made tortillas, juicy tender pink steak and soft marinated chicken.
I haven’t had taco this good since The States (and that is saying a lot considering I’m from the West coast so we know a thing or two about our Mexican food).
So what about that dish in the middle ? Oh thats just a big bowl of beautiful melted cheese (four cheeses to be exact) covered in sautéed mushrooms and one larger mushroom fried in tempura batter.
If you are looking for the most indulgent dish on the menu this just might be it. The best part – it is worth every bite.
Becoming very full and very happy I had made up my mind that ZOCO was already hands down my favorite Mexican / Latin American restaurant in Dubai.
And then this backed chicken with baby potato and sugar peas came.
I took a bite, and I agreed with myself even more.
Eating past the point of full but still loving every bite that was the end of beautiful dinner at ZOCO.
Give this place a try – for a group dinner or as a couple – the restaurants atmosphere lends itself to both.
