Summer is nearly over, but before it is here in Dubai I suggest a stop at Café Bateel for one last peek at their seasonal summer menu before it’s gone!
Being a strictly summer menu, the dishes are based on seasonal fare.
This weekend Mr. Z and I went to taste a few of the summer items over a leisurely lunch in their DIFC location.
First things first – what could be more summer appropriate than a beautiful iced coffee?
As a starter I had a delectable, delightfully instagrammable summer special Caesar salad with a great twist.
Dressed up wth kale and avocado, this was a much more nutrient packed version of the classic Casar.
My vote is to make this salad part of the regular menu! It’s that good.
Mr. Z opted to start with a creamy burrata on a bed of lightly grilled veggies marinated in pesto from the summer menu.
Still keeping it light for the mains I decided on a simple but tasty whole wheat smoked salmon bagel with chive cream cheese which comes with a small side of kale and avocado salad.
Mr. Z decided on the scallops served atop baba ganoush surrounded by a vibrant orange pepper coulis.
From what we tried of Cafe Bateel’s summer menu it was delightful and a nice switch up from their staple items.
It’s always nice to go to a familiar place but be able to try new things at the same time – Bateel is always “menu engineering”, with fresh seasonal items and new dishes on offer.
Light summer dishes that still hold great flavor and textures it’s worth giving a try before we move into fall.
