Located in St. Julian’s with views looking out across St. Georges Bay, Caviar & Bull is a restaurant not be missed when in Malta.
A gastronomic menu of locally sourced dishes, we took our seats outside on the balcony where we studied the standard and seasonal menu.

Snuggled right on the harbor, the restaurant really is in a beautiful location.
We decided to sample a few of the starters beginning with the signature black fried calamari (the squid ink doesn’t change the flavor at all but adds a fun twist).
To follow this we had some deliciously juicy scallops and generous slices of seared foie gras – both of which I would recommend.
We also decided to try a starter plate of the lobster and salmon tortelloni. A miss honestly … the dish used smoke salmon which when cooked was a bit overbearing on the other flavors.
Before long it was onto the mains.
For me, I selected from their seasonal menu a local meager that was simply cooked and topped with beautiful seared cherry tomatoes.
The winning dish of the evening though was the ricotta truffled gnocchi.
This was heaven in a dish.
Thick, creamy, fresh, and heavy (but in the way that nearly all truffle dishes are).
The secret is the gnocchi is that is freshly made with tarragon infused noisette butter.
A definite must try.
And there you have it.
This is absolutely one of the better restaurants in Malta and definitely the most posh.
A perfect atmosphere for groups or couples alike looking for a sophisticated atmosphere and high quality cuisine.
