The holiday season has Dubai in a shopping spree, which has made Dubai Mall a feeding frenzy of discounts and last minute gift shopping.
We took our seats where the iconic Fortnum’s chinaware was perfectly set and waiting.
Mr. Z who was feeling a bit more hungry decided on the Fortnum’s high tea which offers first a hot dish before scones and cakes.
Before long our tea arrived.
I went with peppermint in honor of the holiday season.
Z went with the Royal Blend and a pinch of milk.
Of my little tea sandwiches, the cucumber with mint was my favorite – delicately crisp and refreshing.
No tea is complete without them.
F&M are rich and buttery with a perfectly flaky top.
Spread a generous amount of clotted cream and jam and you’ve got a match made in heaven.
I’m pretty sure Z almost knocked out their entire clotted cream and scone supply…
But this was not all, there is also cake.
A slice for both of us.
After much thought I decided on the vanilla raspberry and Z went for the raspberry ladyfinger cake.
While it may not seem so from the outside Fortnum & Mason does an excellent job of engulfing you into their ambiance. You forget about the hustle and bustle of outside; you can simply sit and enjoy a nice cup of tea. An excellent experience which was only enhanced by the Christmas nostalgia – even in the desert.
