Our last day in Lugano was drizzly and grey but beautiful all the same.
We spent the day showing Mr. Z’s colleague around mist covered Lugano, through the side streets and lake walk we took in the sites.
As you may have seen from my last Lugano post we planned on having lunch with our friends from dinner the night before.
Walking through the mist we all sat down at Cafe Sass in the main piazza under the giant christmas tree which had been helicoptered in for the holiday season (it’s quite a site to see).
The restaurant was filled with a busy lunch rush and we were shown to a table in the center of it all.
For my last dish in Lugano I thought it only fitting that it should be pasta.
This was a classic, a fresh tomato sauce with plump cherry tomatoes, grated cheese and basil. Bellissimo!
After lunch we parted ways with our friends and made plans to meet again soon – maybe in Dubai.
The three of us continued our stroll through the Lugano streets, following the distinct smell of roasting chestnuts of which we picked up a few for the road.
And you can’t return home without a few Swiss chocolate gifts….
And along the cloud covered lake we strolled.
