With a 1:30 brunch reservation and some of Mr. Z visiting work colleagues from Malta already there waiting it was a rush to get ready and take off for The Palm.
Our late to arrive brunch party consisted of Luka (some of you may know him as the Croatian), my sharp minded bestie Brandon who recently moved out to Dubai and the lovely Mariana who is completing an internship in one of DIFC top galleries.
You’ll find the recently opened Waldorf near the very end on the top right frond, and like all grand hotels in Dubai, it puts on a beautiful brunch.
Chandeliers, marble floors and sun pouring in from the floor to ceiling windows the brunch vides were in full swing.
Take a look.
Pan fried foie gras and chutney.
Seared scallops with truffle topping.
As the brunch moved on into its second hour Mr. Z was busily talking away with his visiting guests.
Well inside that delicious wheel you could have fresh tossed caesar.
To be honest the cheesecake really didn’t impress as much as its looks.
This cupcake however….
Oh no. I mean if you know me this shouldn’t come as a surprise.
By the time we got to it the little madeleines had been gobbled up.
Look at Luka trying to show me up!
After enough silliness and the clock striking close to 5 we decided to head over to The One and Only (the one on the palm – yes, to clarify, there is more than one) to end our day.
The taxi dropped us in the hotel dazzling entrance where we waited for the buggy to take us over to the lounge as the grounds are rather large.
From our little lounge table on the One and Only’s open water terrace we watched The Atlantis light up across the way as the sun sank.
Our groups conversation drifted from brunches work related topics to a debate on panda bears not actually being bears (yeah right – I guess it’s true).
You know, the important topics in life.
After such two crazy weeks of work I couldn’t have asked for a better days get away with such a funny yet wonderful mix of people.
