Podnah’s Pit Barbecue you can smell its sweet grills from a few blocks down. This slow cooked joint has been serving Texas bbq in Portland since 2006. Over the past years this Podnah’s team has been waking up at 5am each morning to stoke the oakwood barbecue pit. Now thats commitment you can taste.
We ordered up some sharp drinks and waited for our feast of 4 hours smoked half rack and full rack, 12 hours smoked pulled pork, jalapeno mac and cheese, fresh coleslaw, black-eyed pea salad, cheesy broccoli and sweet corn bread with honey.
Barbecue in an American summer just can’t be beat.
Happy and devilishly full Podnah’s generous servings and lingering barbecue smell had me in a complete summer nostalgia as we set off to enjoy the final hours of Portland.
We still had a bit of packing before we headed off for San Fran.
If you haven’t been. Go. It’s great with a group or for a laid back date.
Maybe not a first date though as it can get a little messy… all in good fun though right?
