During my trip to Portland mom and I decided to head out to Sauvies Island Farms and pick some berries (and peaches) for our blueberry pie. As a little background, not long ago back in Dubai I had the biggest craving for pie. To my complete despair I soon came to the understanding that Dubai seems to have a great pie shortage. Weird right? I mean Dubai has everything – except for pie.
I decided to compensate for this great loss by taking by desire for blueberry pie to the next level – to make it myself .
So I headed out for some fresh air berry picking with mom. From the farm to the oven, this pie would be perfect !
We checked in, grabbed some cardboard crates and headed out into the farm land.
We headed to the very back of the farm for the main ingredient – blueberries.
I’d say we did pretty well.
Of course we couldn’t leave without a few sweet raspberries.
Working our way back to the front of the farm we stopped over at the peach trees before heading to checkout.
Now prepare yourself for this beauty ….
Only a few hours later these blueberries and peaches found their way into the most beautiful pie.
Fresh out of the oven.
Severed warm with vanilla ice cream and homemade whipped cream.
A little mother daughter masterpiece.
Presented at dinner that evening I can happily say I was able to satisfy my craving for pie among friends and family as I caught up on all of Portland’s latest gossip.
