Inspired by Lexington Avenue in New York, the Lexington Grill located in the Waldorf Astoria in Ras Al Khaimah is nothing short of wonderful when sampling their drinks, main menu and desserts. Mr. Z and and sat down at the Lexington Grill for dinner on our weekend getaway (for our full trip overview click here).
The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating and, while the weather was perfect outside, we opted for indoor as it seemed to offer a superior ambiance. Our server was sharp and very helpful when we decided what to order from the mouth watering menu. We looked over the menu with our drinks from the full dim lit bar, I was recommended the Merlin Monroe, a sweet apple cocktail that was first swirled in a decanter with apple wood smoke. To compliment our meals we also opted for a lovely red wine.
Starters and Mains
I opted for the classic clam chowder soup as my starter and a beef tartar for my main; which I must say, as an avid tartar orderer, was one of the best I have had in a long while. Mr. Z decided on the prawn bisque with brandy cream as a starter and the sirloin steak, which was hung for 21 days before being served (in order to maximize flavour) with a side of truffle oil mash potatoes for as his main (which I ended up eating the majority of – so delicious!).
I indulged in the yogurt mouse, which was a perfect blend of rich cream and sweet berry flavour, especially with the small berry sorbet in the center of the yogurt. Mr. Z had a baked Alaska with pistachio and vanilla ice cream, which he quickly ate up.
Overall we had a wonderful experience. The Lexington Grill offers perfectly prepared beef, something of a rarity in the Dubai area. For anyone traveling through Ras Al Khaimah or is planning to stay at the Waldorf Astoria the Lexington Grill is a must.
