While visiting Qbara for dinner this weekend with friends (my second time here ) we were lucky enough to receive a personalised off the menu tasting experience put together by Qbara’s executive chief Colin Clague.
A little apéritif at the bar with the ‘moving wall ‘ providing excellent entertainment before taking our seats and digging in.
Starters and Mains
The vegetable dish served on ice with cream dip
Calamari with a perfect light and crunchy batter
Salad of herb goat cheese, tomatoes and fresh melons – a very refreshing dish
Already a quickly growing favorite – crispy soft shelled crab ‘saj’ garlic and harissa.
This one is a must try !
Fresh cut fish and condensed cumber
Falafel salad, compressed cucumber, tarator
Lobster kibbeh – warm and packed with flavor
The seared scallops with sumac presented with sweet and sour shallots – don’t pass this one up !
Sea bass topped with walnut and herb crumbs with lahini and yogurt
Healthy and yummy !
French fries cooked in a rich duck fat and side salad to complement the fish and duck
Duck breast, pomegranate molasses, walnuts and cinnamon
A very rich dish but the flavors are unbeatable – don’t pass this one up !
and finally … Desserts
Don’t be fooled by its ‘seen this before’ appearance – this Turkish pick me up ice cream was like nothing I’v ever tried
Coffee and chocolate lovers – you won’t be disappointed with this one
Tempura medjoul dates with marzipan on top of a date and walnut cake with orange and tamarind sorbet, yogurt and honey
The must try of all Qbara desserts. The Milk & Honey. Greek yogurt with sumac pannacotta, sidr honey and saffron pashmak make this dessert like nothing you have every had before.
And this is coming from the girl who always goes for chocolate – absolutely must try !
(As you can see we ordered two !!!! )
Throughout dinner the wall behind the bar provided visual entertainment with its changing projections and live music performances.
Overall a great experience – if you haven’t been yet – go.
